How Do You Define Your Successful Business?

You are here: Home / Business Development / How Do You Define Your Successful Business?

March 1, 2015 By Steve Hendon

It sounds like an easy question, but is it? Your successful business probably wouldn’t be defined the same way as someone else’s business.

How would you know if your business is successful? If you know anything about me, you know that I love a good question so let me throw a few out to help you define your successful business.

  • How much gross revenue will you generate?
  • How much of that will be left for you?
  • Is money the most important way to keep score?
  • What else is important besides money?
  • How much time are you investing each week in your successful business?
  • What do you do better than anyone else in your profession?
  • Why do your customers come back to you?
  • What are you known for that sets you apart?
  • What is your most important marketing strategy?
  • What is your second most important marketing strategy?
  • What is your third most important marketing strategy?
  • What are you doing to replace the top three with more effective strategies?
  • How does your team contribute to your successful business?
  • How important are customer referrals to your successful business?
  • How do you encourage those referrals?
  • What do your customers say about you?
  • How would you describe your perfect customer?
  • How often do you get to work with your perfect customer?
  • How are you communicating and reaching new perfect customers?
  • What do you love most about your business?
  • What do you do best in your business?
  • How often do you get to do what you do best?
  • Why are you optimistic about your business and your future?
  • What is the one thing that you haven’t accomplished, but this year you will?

There you go. If you can answer these questions you will be able to define your successful business or at least have a pretty good idea of what you need to do to attain your successful business.

I can’t answer these questions for you, nobody can, but I can help you find the answers.

What’s another important question you need to answer? I’d like to hear from you.

Knowing Our Strengths Could Have Saved The Business

You probably know by now that I believe in the power of individual strengths and how they can be transformational in our personal and professional lives.  I even made the statement last month in my newsletter that I am going to be more focused on my strengths this year to help me grow my business […]

A Talk With An Old Friend

I recently had a conversation with one of my past bosses whom I consider a friend and a mentor.  We talk a few times each year and I always come away with little nuggets of wisdom.  The latest conversation generated an “aha” moment that really resonated with me. We were talking about business in general […]

Is This The Best We Can Do?

There’s not a business owner or manager that would disagree that a highly functioning group of employees or team members is important to the success of a business. It was spring 1997. I had just been named sales manager for the local division of the national company I worked for.  It’s important to know that […]

Anatomy of a Hopeful Person

Have you ever used the word hope to describe something you want? “I hope to be a successful attorney.” “I hope to start my own Chiropractic Practice.” “I hope to start a business and be my own boss.” “I hope to be the top salesperson this year.” “I hope to ______ someday.” Be honest, haven’t […]

How’s Your Foundation

I live in a beautiful area with rolling hills and open spaces. It’s a great place to walk for exercise and relaxation. Recently, on one of my walks, I passed a couple looking at one of the homes for sale. They asked if they could ask me a few questions and I was glad to […]
